Dear Illusion

Private press copy of Kingsley Amis's Dear Illusion

Kingsley Amis
First edition. Small 4to. Pp. [iv], 35, [1 (blank)]. Stiff pictorial mustard-yellow wraps, printed in black. Staple bound. Edited by Ronald Hayman. No 1 in the Covent Garden Stories series. Limited issue of 600 copies, 100 of which were numbered and signed by Amis on the limitation page. This is one of the 500 unnumbered/unsigned copies.
Closed tear to last, blank, leaf, sunned strip to cover, else a fine and bright copy.
One of Amis's cast offs, or "woodchips from [his] workshop," as he called them, about an ageing poet who, with an eye on posterity, re-appraises his oeuvre. In 2008, The Times ranked the author 13th on their list of the top fifty greatest British writers since 1945.
