First edition. Crown 8vo., 118, [1] pp. Full sienna linen cloth, lettered and ruled in gilt to spine. B/w photographic frontispiece of the correspondents. Jacket design by Vanessa Bell featuring silhouettes of the authors (priced 18s net to front flap). Contains almost all their extant correspondence of note from 1906 to 1931. Edited by Leonard Woolf and James Strachey. 1/4,000 copies issued on 14 November, 1956.
Quoted inscription, in green ink (nevertheless), to f.f.e.p. from a letter by Woolf to Strachey, imploring him "to write oftener, considering your command of the language", a sentiment that obviously chimed with the correspondent in making a present of this book to the [errant] recipient. An otherwise fine copy in complete, unsoiled, non-faded dustwrapper.
