Originally published by the tiny Saint Piran Press in Cornwall in 2003 in a limited edition of 225 hardbacks and 3,000 paperbacks. A second printing of 1,000 hardbacks followed in March 2004.

A 17-year time gap elapsed between the novel's penning and its publication, during which time the manuscript was stored in the author's loft. The plot set in Cornwall and the Amazon rain forest set off a bidding war between metropolitan London publishers, with Hodder Headline eventually winning the rights.
