Limited first edition. Thick 8vo. Pp. [vii], 380, [10]. Copy 'B' of twenty-six lettered copies, bound in full green calf leather and blocked in gilt to spine. Green endpapers. Sewn-in silk ribbon marker. Each copy is signed, with a unique holograph quotation from the book by the author. Housed in matching slipcase. Issued simultaneously with the first trade edition published by Phoenix House. A further 100 copies were quarter-bound in blue leather.
The third novel by the author of A Suitable Boy (1993). A book about an on-off love affair between two gifted classical musicians. A recurring theme throughout is the pair's rendition of Beethoven's Piano Trio Opus 1 No.3, which they first perform in their college days.
