First edition. Crown 8vo, 4 full-page woodcuts by Vanessa Bell, pp.91, [1 (advert.)]. Quarter-bound bright maroon cloth over white paper boards blocked in black to a Vanessa Bell design. 1/1000 copies printed by F.T. McDermott of the Prompt Press.
Covers a little tanned and soiled. Moderate rubbing and edge-wear to boards, offsetting to endpapers. Book plate to front pastedown, neat name to f.f.e.p., else Very Good.
The only collection of short stories published during Woolf's lifetime – five of them printed here for the first time – and all written in her developing stream-of-consciousness narrative technique. Being the first Hogarth Press publication to make it into the Annals of English Literature, 1475–1950.
