Penned amidst the Great Depression, the last volume in the series traces the progressive degeneration of the notion of Providence through the ages.

Presentation copy warmly inscribed by the Author to Bethel Solomons (1885–1965). Born to a prominent Jewish family, the recipient was a founding member and first president of the Liberal Synagogue in Dublin. A doctor by profession, he was Master of the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin and subsequently served as President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. Light edge-wear and age toning to wraps, fore-edges slightly foxed, else Fine.
