A collection of poems, parables, stories, sketches, and apocryphal quotations. Considered by Borges to be his most personal work as the book 'abounds in reflections and interpolations' and produced in tribute to his year in residence at the University of Texas. "Of all my books, the book called El Hacedor [is my favourite] because it wrote itself... when I go back to that book, I find I've said the things I had to say, worked out the images I had to work out."
