First edition of Somhairle MacGill-Eain's Hallaig, transl. by Seamus Heaney

Somhairle MacGill-EainSorley MacLean; translated by Seamus Heaney

Limited first and only edition. 8vo. [8] pp. Publisher's stapled, pale green card covers. Limited to 150 copies, from a total edition of 200, the first fifty of which were signed by the Author.
Parallel Gaelic text, with Heaney's English translation on facing pages. Named after a depopulated township on the Hebridean island of Raasay (the Scottish poet's birthplace), it is a reflection on the passage of time and the historical impact of the Highland Clearances. According to the publisher, Heaney "has been a huge admirer of Sorley MacLean for many years and felt that Sorley should have been awarded the Nobel Prize."
